Can not access BSNL modem gateway page? Check This Out.
Hello friends, welcome to Bpedia. Are you trying to access your BSNL or any other ADSL modem page and unable to open it on your browser? Don’t worry, I will help you to fix it. Before directly jumping to solution first of all I would like to tell you what causes this problem and what are its symptoms. If you find it boring to read out causes and symptoms, click here to jump directly to solution.
So What’s The Cause?
Consider that you have ordered a pair of shoes from amazon.com and the delivery guy is supposed to deliver it to your home. But for some reason the package in which your shoes are wrapped does not have your home address or your contact number. Now can the delivery guy deliver the package to your home? No. he can not.
Similarly consider that Amazon.com is your ISP(BSNL or any other operator), package you have ordered is IP addresses and delivery guy is your ADSL modem or router. Now your modem is supposed to assign your PC/Laptop a private IP address. But since your modem(delivery guy) can not assign IP(your shoes ordered from amazon.com) to your PC/Laptop(you) because it does not have your address,so you will not be able to access the modem page.
Now let’s go a bit technical. You are using your ADSL modem to convert the analog data that is coming from a telephone line to a digital one so that your computer understands it. Your ADSL modem assigns a private IP address(192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3 etc) to each of the device connected to it, be it your PC, Laptop, Smartphone or a Tablet. Your modem can do this because of a protocol that it has inside of it called DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). But for some reasons sometimes your modem could not assign IP dynamically to the device which are connected to it. Although physically there might be a connection between your PC and modem, but since it does not have your address it can not deliver the data to your PC or Laptop or smartphone even if there is no fault on Telephone line. Your modem simply does not know who are connected to it. As a result you will not be able to access Internet and hence can not open modem page.
What are the symptoms?
- LAN warning symbol.
- WiFi warning symbol
- Unidentified Local Area Connection.
- Unidentified Wireless Connection.
- pinging to 192.168.1.1 will result Request Timed Out
How To Resolve?
Let’s solve the issue. The default gateway of BSNL ADSL modem is 192.168.1.1. If you have any other ADSL modem you can find the default gateway on the back panel of your modem or in the Manual provided along with the modem. Once you find out the default gateway,
- Go to:
For windows xp: control panel→network and internet connection( or network connection)→local area connection
For windows vista: control panel→network and internet→network and sharing center→Manage Network connection(on left side)
For windows 7/8/10: control panel→network and internet→network and sharing center→change adapter settings( located on top left corner.
2. Right click on Local Area Connection → properties → internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4)
Here you need to give IP address manually. Follow the below given image and put it on your PC accordingly. Once you are done putting the IPs, click ok.
Now if you are connecting more than one PC/Laptop using the ethernet cable then you should assign different IP to each one of them. For example if you are using 3 PC/Laptop connected via Ethernet cable then do it as mentioned below.
1ST PC/LAPTOP | IP address: 192.168.1.12 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 |
---|---|
2nd PC/Laptop | IP address: 192.168.1.13 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 |
3rd PC/Laptop | IP address: 192.168.1.14 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 |
P.S :- You can assign any IP to your PC/Laptop ranging from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.254. But please do remember that you can not assign same IP to two device. If i put it in simple, assign one unique IP to each connected PC/Laptop. Otherwise IP Conflict will occur.
I hope this solved your problem. If you like this post and if it helped you somehow then please share it. This will help the blog to grow. And if you have any queries please put your comment below.
