Find BSNL Broadband Username From Modem admin panel
Finding BSNL broadband username or user id is as simple as ABC.
I have already created a post on how to find BSNL broadband username without logging into modem admin panel, but that trick will work only if you are connected to the internet.
But what if your Broadband connection is down and you want to configure your modem freshly? In that case, the above trick won’t work. So we have to log in to your modem to find your pppoe bsnl broadband username.
Just follow along with me.
Let me give you a quick preview what we will be doing during this post.
First of all, we will access our modem admin page by logging into it with default gateway IP and then will check what is your broadband username inside of it which was written at the time of configuration.
Since there are plenty of DSL modem out there that works with BSNL broadband, so i will cover 3 major DSL modem routers in this post including D-link, TP-Link and BSNL modem router.
This post is also targeted to find broadband username ISP other than BSNL.
Let’s dive right in.
Steps to Find BSNL Broadband user id
The 1st step involves logging into modem admin page. Connect your modem to your PC/Laptop using LAN cable and once the connection gets established, type 192.168.1.1 on your browser’s address bar.
Although the default gateway IP 192.168.1.1 is for BSNL provided modem only, there are plenty of modem and router out there which opens with this same IP. For example, most of the D-link and TP-link modem router opens with 192.168.1.1.
If you have purchased a modem from some other brand, and you have no idea how to open modem admin page, then I have already created a post on how to open modem or router setting page. This works with every modem and router.
The 2nd step involves finding a field named username inside the modem admin panel which is nothing but your broadband username. Let’s do it one by one:
Type 192.168.1.1 on a browser’s address bar and when asked for username and password, put both as ‘admin’ (without the inverted comma).
Once you login to modem admin panel, click on:
Interface Setup → Internet → under PPPOE you will get a field named username. Whatever written on it is your broadband username.
D-Link
DSL 2730U DSL-2750U and all DSL-XXXX series modem router.
Login to your modem by typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser’s address bar. Although most of the D-link modem router opens with this IP, few of them may not open. If your modem is one of them or if you are not able to login with 192.168.1.1 IP, then read the 1st step guide completely.
After typing the modem IP on the browser’s address bar, put username and password as ‘admin’ (without the inverted comma) when prompted.
Click on Advanced Setup (from left navigation menu) → WAN → Click on Edit.
When you click on Edit option you can find your BSNL broadband username under a tab named PPP username.
If you need more support on your modem, then you may check D-link‘s website.
TP-Link
Although there are lots of TP-link modem out there, I am going to cover some of the best selling TP-link modems on Amazon.
A TP-Link W8968, TP-Link W8970, TP-Link W8980 and TP-Link W9980.
Login to your modem by typing 192.168.1.1 into a browser’s address bar. When prompted for username and password put both as ‘admin’ (without the inverted comma).
Now hover over the left navigation menu and click on
Network → WAN setting
A screen will appear like this:
Once the above screen appears, you have to click on EDIT option of the particular PPPOE connection you are using. After clicking on Edit option, you need to look for a field named PPP username and whatever written inside that field is your BSNL broadband username.
B TP-Link TD W8960N
Login to your modem by typing 192.168.1.1 and when asked for username and password, put both as ‘admin’ (without the inverted comma).
Now hover over the left side navigation menu bar and click on
Advanced Setup → WAN service.
Under a field named PPP username, you will find your broadband user id.
C TP-Link TD-W8961and TD-W8901
For this particular type of modem. You can follow the instructions that I have provided under BSNL section because its interface is almost similar to that of BSNL modem.
If your modem is not listed in this article, you can check TP-Link support section to get your work done.
BSNL broadband password?
Many users, often search for the BSNL broadband password. By default, BSNL broadband password is ‘password’ itself. If you have changed the broadband password and forgot it, then contact BSNL customer care no by dialing 18003451500 and tell them to reset your broadband password.

What about FTTH modem configuration
Hi there, Thanks..will try to cover FTTH soon.
I am going to get a new BSNL broadband connection. I am new to this broadband and router/modem stuff. I want to use the internet both in my Laptop and the smartphone over a wireless network (through wifi). Can you please suggest me a router/modem.
Hi vineet, you can go for d link 2730u . Its a cheap adsl router that works great. It has also lot of good reviews on amazon. If you can spend a bit more (approx 2k)then dlink 2750u is also a good option. It has better wifi coverage than dlink 2730u.
What options are there to extend range of wifi router ? Do I need any configuration, if i use any range enhancer ?
Hi Natasha, you can use wifi repeater to extend the range of a wifi router and yes, you need to configure it. You have to select the wifi access point that you want the range to extend. Hope this helps.
Hi, I am the dmin of a packers and movers company but the problem is that I can not open with the router’s default login credentials as stated above. Whatever you suggested seems to be right but it does not work for me anyway.
Hi Vishal, extremely sorry for late response, You have to reset the router. But be careful with this, once you reset it, you have to configure it again.
I m using a dlink double antenna modem…. I need to restart it so often to get it going…. And the speed on my broad band connection is very slow…. Moreover the range of the modem is also not good…it is hardly 20feet….. Tell me what I need to do????
Hi Junaid, Probably you need to change the router and see if your problem gets solved with the new router or not.
